February 2013

What a fun and busy month we had!!! Hard to believe how fast February flew by!

We celebrated Valentine's Day - the kids were dressed from head to toe in red and pink! Everyone seemed to have a great time with all of the games, activities, crafts and passing out of the valentines for our friends....but I think everyone's favourite was the rose petals on the parachute :)

Here's Trewin during one of our valentine games

When we are working on a letter of the alphabet, we divide into 3 groups and rotate between different stations. Each activity gives the kids a chance to explore a different area that's important

The kids are working with playdoh to make the letter of the day

Here we are working on counting and our fine motor skills to link the links together

We've been "travelling" around the world with our passports the last few months! We learn about the different languages, cultures, activities, and food.

Here we are taking off on our long plane ride to China to celebrate their Chinese New Year

Brianna illustrating her creativity with chow mein noodles for her craft

Juliana, Rori and Logan are flying their kites

One of the things that we learned about the Chinese New Year is that children get red enveloppes with shiny new pennies in them as gifts that are to bring them good luck throughout the year. We didn't have any shiny new pennies, but we did a science experiment to find out what makes dirty pennnies shiny - vinegar and salt worked!!

Hailey is mixing the vinegar and salt around the dirty pennies

Zoey satisfied that we have all shiny new pennies to bring us luck

Landon is colouring his enveloppe red so that he can put his shiny pennies in it

What a musically talented group of kids we have - they made a great marching band with their instruments!!

DJ showing us the sound his drum makes

Josie playing her drum

Kennedy making music

Maddison showing her friends how her accordion works

Kayden telling his friends about hyenas

The kids made their own snack - fruit salad

Aiden gives it a thumbs up!

We didn't let the cold weather get to us completely...we did manage to get a few times to enjoy the snow!

Hope working her way through the deep snow
